Support And Advice About Sex, Sexual Health And Relationships

Is Sex and Relationship Therapy for me?

We offer a comfortable, non-judgemental environment, where you can talk about any issues you may be having with your relationship or sex life, whether you are an individual or a couple. You will be able to talk openly, and confidentially.

Psychosexual Therapy sessions do not involve any examinations, or tests. You will not be required to undress, and any intimate exercises included in the treatment would be carried out in the privacy of your own home. Psychosexual Therapy is a talking therapy and allows individuals and couples to explore and assess their sexual problems and the thoughts, behaviours and other factors that may be contributing to them.

Sex therapy is open to all adults whether you are currently in a relationship or not. Whatever your gender, whatever your sexuality, whatever your orientation and sexual preferences, we welcome members of the GSRD Community (Gender, Sexuality, Relationship, Diverse) and we are kink friendly. You do not need a referral from your GP to seek therapy sessions at The North Hampshire Clinic, you can self-refer.

Our clients choose to undertake therapy sessions with us for a whole host of different issues, these can include; loss of sexual interest or desire, painful intercourse, vaginismus, erectile problems, inability to orgasm, ejaculation problems, sex avoidance or fear of sex, sex or porn addiction, confusion around gender and sexuality, lack of sex education and experience, relationship conflict, infidelity, insecurity, relationship maintenance, marriage guidance….and more

Sex (Psychosexual) Therapy

Psychosexual therapy is for those who have issues with their sex life or sexuality which may be caused and maintained by psychological or emotional factors. Maybe past experiences, traumas or messages at points throughout your life have affected your beliefs about your sexual self and your views on sex in general.

Our relationships with our caretakers when we are young and subsequent relationships as we develop through life can affect how we attach to people and who we attach ourselves to. How we connect to others, or fail to, can be related to our relationship history and the beliefs we hold about ourselves. Physical health; disabilities, physical conditions, illnesses, and medications can have an impact on sex and relationships too, as can your lifestyle and social factors.

Psychosexual Therapy looks at the whole picture and helps you to explore what is working for you, and more importantly, what isn’t working. A treatment plan, which will target the issues and help you, is then created and facilitated for you.

Psychosexual Therapy is a talking therapy. There are no intimate exercises in the sessions. Neither would you be expected to undress or to be examined or tested.

Couples (or Relationship) Therapy

Whatever sort of relationship you are in, whatever difficulties you may be experiencing, relationship therapy, sometimes referred to as couples therapy, couples counselling or marriage guidance, helps you to verbalise, explore and resolve those difficulties in a safe, non-judgmental environment. If you want your partner to listen to you, understand what you’re saying and see you with fresh eyes, if you just can’t communicate effectively and need to be heard, then relationship therapy will be sure to help you.

Every couple’s situation is unique. For some, the suggestion of relationship therapy is considered a ‘last resort’ to save a relationship or marriage. While of course this is sometimes the case, you don’t have to wait until things get to that stage before trying therapy. Many couples use therapy sessions as a way to keep their relationship healthy and address any underlying concerns that may become conflicts in the future. Our role is to not take sides; to always remain neutral, and act in the best interests of the relationship. It is not our role to save your relationship but to facilitate your process, help you explore and communicate, and to hold you in a safe space whilst you journey to a place and time where you are able to re-connect. For some couples however, they themselves reach the conclusion that they have come to the end of the road and that it is time to part.

Couples come to therapy for a variety of reasons. To name just a few; inability to communicate, addictions, affairs, lack of sexual desire, sexual disorders, different sexual needs, work stress, arguments, family problems, trust issues, insecurity.

If your relationship or sex life isn’t as enjoyable as you would like it to be, and you would like to discuss it in a way that is safe and healthy please contact us today.
